Upcoming Session Open to All: Sharpen Your Research Edge — Enhancing Research & Professional Practice

    Suzhou, China | 12-16 January 2026
A unique collaboration between Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and the University of St Andrews

The Doctoral Training Programme, which is exclusively designed for XJTLU doctoral candidates, is structured into two distinct areas: the Disciplinary-specific Training offered by the School or Academy and the Personal and Professional Development (PPD) Training offered jointly at the university level, which consists of various in-person workshops arranged by XJTLU and online workshops from the University of Liverpool.

The Disciplinary-specific Training is to help develop your knowledge base and skills within your chosen discipline, inter-disciplinary or multidisciplinary area. In contrast, the PPD Training will allow you to enhance your skills via training that covers research methods, communication, impact, ethics and governance, employability, and entrepreneurship. The PPD workshops at XJTLU are designed, developed and delivered by the Graduate School, Educational Development Unit (EDU) and the School of Languages (SoL) and cover a wide range of important topics, such as research integrity, working towards publications, preparing for or doing your PhD viva, and so on.
