Students from the Academy of Future Education at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) recently visited the Overseas Chinese Academy of Chiway Suzhou (OCAC Suzhou). The visit not only offered students valuable insights into the education industry but also served as a bridge for exploring potential internship opportunities. The event was made possible with strong support from the host school.

“For first-year postgraduate students, this visit is not only a chance to prepare for next semester’s internship module, but also an early opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the education sector. It allows them to engage with real-world educational challenges, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application, and laying a solid foundation for their future careers.” says Ms Guangyu Yang, theInternship Programme Coordinator at the Academy of Future Education.

During the visit, Mr. Jingrui You, HR Director of OCAC Suzhou, and Ms. Zheng Chen, HR Manager, provided an in-depth introduction to the school’s mission, educational philosophy, and the wide array of internship programmes available. Their presentation offered students a vivid picture of the professional possibilities in the education sector.

Two alumnae of XJTLU who are now employed at OCAC Suzhou shared their personal experiences, vividly demonstrating the realities of working at the university and the valuable opportunities for personal growth.

Ms Guangyu Yang also awarded the two practice tutors with practice tutor certificates, further promoting the friendly and cooperative relationship between AoFE and OCAC Suzhou.

Following the presentations, students toured the school facilities in small groups, guided by professional staff. They explored different departments, conference rooms, and functional spaces, gaining a clear understanding of the school’s operational model. This process not only enabled them to have a more intuitive understanding of the overall structure of the school, but also inspired their passion and aspiration for education.

The visit concluded with one-on-one interviews between students and heads of departments. These personalized sessions allowed for deeper discussions on departmental responsibilities and career development prospects, giving students practical experience and direct interaction with professionals in the education industry.

This visit not only deepened students’ understanding of the education sector, but also provided them with meaningful resources and inspiration for future career planning. Through such practical experiences, students are better equipped to prepare for their professional journeys ahead.
