    About

    IBSS Research Centre of Excellence (RCE) for Business Education Research aims to work across disciplines to address complex and important issues in business education, by ensuring that the people who receive and deliver business education are at the core of such research. The Centre brings together knowledge experts from diverse disciplines to develop business cases and to understand and explore the challenges to business education. The overarching aim of the Centre is to identify, understand and address issues in business education from multiple and diverse perspectives including but not limited to pedagogy, learning outcomes, curriculum development, the learning environment, and stakeholder perspectives on teaching and learning.

    The Centre is committed supporting staff in the development of high-quality case studies and in this regard has planned a series of ongoing workshops to help staff develop knowledge and skills in writing and disseminating case studies.

    The Centre is supported by two labs, the Digital Accounting Lab and Case Lab

    Labs and facilities


    The Digital Accounting Lab (DALab) aims to advance research and innovative teaching methods in accounting. Its main emphasis is on the use of technology to support accounting research and teaching. The DALab has developed a series of projects focused on both accounting research and the applications of technology in learning and teaching.

    There are three high-performance workstations with GPUs that provide computing power for machine learning models and natural language processing (NLP) models. DALab will offer computing support for researchers with GPU computing requests for their machine learning, deep learning, or NLP models.


    The Case Lab aims to enhance business education by facilitating the development of high-quality teaching case studies in the age of artificial intelligence.

    History

    The Case Lab was established in December?2024, transforming from the former Case Development Centre (CDC).

    Mission

    We leverage the expertise of XJTLU’s world-class faculty and the IBSS’s extensive business connections to create case studies from an Asian perspective, aimed at those interested in studying businesses in the Asia-Pacific region.?Our mission is to promote business case studies through workshops focused on case development, teaching, and writing. We offer these workshops to students and faculty members from business schools throughout the region.

    Strengths

    Presenting business cases from Asia to enhance the understanding of diverse cultures, management styles, ethics, and business environments in the region, with a specific focus on Greater China. Our world-class faculty writes and oversees case studies to meet exceptional quality standards.

    Focus on collecting field cases to ensure that the case materials are derived from primary sources, including interviews with key decision-makers within the company. The case collection will feature materials available in English, with some also available in Chinese, aimed at students worldwide, including students in undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs, as well as industry practitioners and professionals. Members of the VaseLab are actively engage in collaborations with companies to promote inter-university cooperation in case writing and the case method.
